The fact that we will be able to eventually control our species and how it evolves will is awesome. However, it will be very problematic for our entitlement based economic system. We already have a problem with people retiring too early, and with the new technology coming out human life expectancy will increase dramatically. We are on the verge of coming to the point where technology will surpass humans, and when we get to that line we will have two choices. One we can not cross it and never have to worry about it, or what will probably happen is that we will cross it with vigor. For the biggest threat to humanity is not disease, or natural disaster, our biggest threat to our species is our endless pursuit of knowledge.
The episode starts off by jumping into scifi by bringing the viewer to another reality and another world. I like how they do this, by fully surmising the reader into this new world they can get straight to the point of the episode and start to make you think.
The next thing they did was the introduction of the other worldly sound. The sound that they played was intriguing because you do not really think of alien invasions being carried out via sound, and how the actress responds to it is was pretty realistic, The continuation of the sounds being the invader's means of attack is something that is not often seen in scifi. Usually aliens are violent but in this case they mean to drive their victim insane by constantly projecting random noises at her, it is utterly brilliant. I wish they still used this approach for the rest of the episode but alas they went back to the whole evil violent alien thing. However I do that their take on the aliens is amazing. Instead of having giant green people, they chose to use tiny little robots. Which is a whole new take on what aliens would be. Instead of monsters, they are cute little robots with lasers. It was a cool twist that the aliens were actually from earth. You would begin to think that we are on the planet, but it turns out that we were the tiny invaders from outer space. The peacefulness ending was awesome |
